Active OOSH acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples as the First Nations Peoples and Traditional Custodians of the Awabakal, Wonnarua, Geawegal and Darkinjung Countries on which we learn, play, work, live and visit. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging who hold the traditions, wisdom and memories of culture for all Australians today.
At Active OOSH, we believe in the power of joining forces with our local communities and working together as a team. Our staff immerse themselves in the wider communities in which we operate in and we are always keen to support local initiatives and help out at school events.
When planning, developing and implementing our Before School, After School and Vacation Care programs we partner with numerous local initiatives, services and businesses in order to support local.
Active OOSH prioritises sustainability education within each of our services as a way of valuing our local environment. Each service has implemented a Green Team for children to participate in where they learn about a range of sustainable practices including harvesting a vegetable garden, reducing waste and respecting our natural environment.
We are so proud of the fact that our OOSHies become Global Citizens and develop a strong sense of care and consideration for the future of our planet.
When programming activities and sourcing equipment, it is important to us that we build on our close relationships with local businesses.
Active OOSH offer ongoing support to local businesses such as Hunter Valley Buses, Rarity Wholesale, The Art Social Newcastle, Whalan’s Nursery, Hunter Sports Centre, CleverPatch Art supplies and KU Inclusion Agency.
Across our services, Active OOSH work collaboratively with upwards of 20 schools across the Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and Hunter Regions.
We support our local schools through many avenues including sponsoring events, providing assistance at events and upgrading physical spaces within the school.
